We just got back from Utah, and I’m 87% sure I need a vacation from our vacation.
You know that post-trip whirlwind where your suitcase is still half-unpacked, your inbox is plotting a full-blown rebellion, and your brain is stuck somewhere between “Did I respond to that email?” and “Wait… what day is it?” Yeah. That’s me right now.
This weekend will basically be a chaotic mash-up of laundry piles, work catch-up, and trying to remember how to feed people three times a day like I didn’t just forget how to function while living out of a suitcase. Oh, and somewhere in there, I decided the only logical thing to do was to start a Twilight movie marathon with Crash.
Because when life feels a little stormy, what better way to cope than watching a sparkly vampire awkwardly stare into a girl’s soul while we both question our taste in movies?
Real talk: there’s something weirdly comforting about doing something ridiculous and cozy when everything else feels overwhelming. Like, yes, I have 47 tasks I should be doing—but first, let me rewatch the scene where Bella almost gets hit by a van for the hundredth time. #Priorities
This week reminded me that hope doesn’t always show up in perfectly structured routines or productivity charts. Sometimes, it’s in the slow moments after the storm—the kind that look like a movie night with your dog, folding laundry at midnight, or laughing at the fact that Edward Cullen’s life has way too much brooding for someone who lives forever.
Maybe you’re also crawling toward the weekend, trying to catch your breath from a wild week, or feeling like you’re not quite keeping up. Let me remind you (and myself):
You don’t have to do it all.
You don’t have to fix everything today.
You’re allowed to rest, laugh, and not have it all together.
Hope sneaks in through the cracks when we stop trying so hard to be perfect and just let ourselves be. Imperfect. Exhausted. Human. But still standing.
So here’s to the weekend:
To slow moments, small wins, and ridiculous movie marathons.
To rest that doesn’t require earning, and joy that doesn’t depend on your to-do list being done.
You’ve weathered the storm this week. Let the weekend be your soft landing.
messy moment at a time.
